Westwood’s 2000 alternate-history war pits the Allies against the Soviets. Build a base, harvest ore and control the map with land, air and naval forces. One power outage can turn a perfect plan into panic.
Tesla coils, Kirovs and a perfectly timed Chronosphere move keep the battles memorable. The 2001 expansion Yuri’s Revenge adds Yuri’s army and new campaigns. Keep base-game files separate from expansion files.
Tesla coils zap one target in the snow. Someone took “a warm welcome” far too seriously.

Two sides, very different battle plans
Allied and Soviet armies answer the same question differently: how will you control the map? Technology, heavy armour, air power and economy shape each battle. Yuri’s Revenge adds Yuri’s army to the equation. Make the entire base work together instead of relying on a single superweapon.
You do not need an encyclopedia to return. Here is a small, practical plan for your first session.
01
Build a base that works
Your first goal is sustainable production, not the biggest army. Balance power, ore income and production order; avoid plans your economy cannot support.
A tiny patch explored, blackness everywhere else. The commander has a few palm trees and plenty of confidence.

03
Turn defeat into the next plan
After a battle, ask what mattered most: economy, scouting or timing? Improve one thing each match. Use files intended for the correct game: Red Alert 2 or Yuri’s Revenge.

Red Alert 2 and Yuri’s Revenge mods will have separate compatibility details.
